Initial Ideas

My idea is to create a simple 2D mobile game, easy to use, which could be a puzzle or a strategy game. It also could have a comical style with an amazing characters in it.

Cut the Rope

Cut the Rope is a simple 2D puzzle game available on a great number of platforms such as Android, World Wide Web, Mac OS X and iOS. In each level, the candy hangs by one or several of the titular ropes which the player must cut with a swipe of their finger (or mouse on the web-based version). Using various objects such as floating bubbles and bellows, the candy must also be manipulated around obstacles to get to Om Nom’s mouth. In my opinion, this puzzle game is successful because of its key features such as cute character, a great number of levels, outstanding graphics, animation shorts of the monster, innovative physics gameplay, superpowers and constant free updates with new levels and animations. Cut the Rope game has all of the components which can make one game successful:

-competition with yourself, which helps you to improve your score;
-feedback gives information about the player's progress within the game. It is a text, audio, video and graphic based which gives information about the player’s performance within the game. The feedback dictates emotional state of the player.
-goal is to feed the monster;
-the challenge of each level is presented with different obstacles which make it hard to feed the monster;
-rules how to feed the monster are presented with the full motion video;
-threat is not to feed the monster which will give you zero points;
-reward is the amount of points which are given to the player after the monster is fed. Happy monster face is also a reward.
-levels of the game give you the opportunity to continue the game with more challenging obstacles;

The interaction model is an avatar and the game focuses on how the protagonist is controlled by the player. It is a first-person perspective where the view is rendered from the playable character (protagonist). The world is viewed in two dimensional perspective. The single player mode of the game allows the player to play against or compete with the artificial intelligence of NPs or objects. Full motion video is a pre-rendered animation which introduces to the player the concept and rules of the game.

The terrain of the game world includes the box from the inside where the player feeds the monster. An example of objects is the rope and other extras which helps the player to feed the monster and increase the score.

The game appeals to a general audience. It incorporates bright and colourful graphics which are not so childish and appeal not only to children, but also to adults. The menu is a text based with a default language English. Cut the Rope is easy to play which also contributes to its popularity between a wide age-range. It offers free and paid versions which allow players to become addicted to the game.

The game creates funny and exciting emotional state of the player.
The game was ported from Apple's iOS to platforms such as Android, Windows Phone, Symbian and online.

Fruit Ninja

Fruit Ninja is a simple arcade game available on a great number of platforms such as iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Symbian, Windows7, Windows 8, Adobe Flash and Xbox 360. In Fruit Ninja, the player slices fruit with a blade controlled via a touch pad. As the fruit is thrown onto the screen, the player swipes their finger across the screen to create a slicing motion, attempting to slice the fruit in half. In my opinion, the game is successful because it has all of the components that can make one game successful:

-competition with yourself, which helps you to improve your score;
-feedback gives information about the player's progress or state within the game. For example, audio and text based feedback communicate that the player slices the fruit and gain more points.
-goal as you have to slice all of the fruits;
-challenge as with every level it becomes harder and harder to slice the fruits;
-rules how to play the game;
-threat not to slice the fruit and not to take extra points; bombs;
-reward is extra points;
-levels of the game which give you the opportunity to to continue the game;
The graphics of the game also contribute to the success of the game.

The interaction model is an avatar and the game focuses on how the protagonist is controlled by the player. It is a first-person perspective where the view is rendered from the playable character. The world is viewed in two dimensional perspective. The single player mode of the game allows the player to play against or compete with the artificial intelligence of NPs or objects. Full motion video is a pre-rendered animation which introduces to the player the concept and rules of the game.

The narrative of the game is presented by the graphics, audio, video and feedback. The narrative is a non-linear is depends on the player's actions.

The terrain of the game world includes a wall where the sliced fruits smash. An example of objects is the bombs which appear as an obsticle on the screen.

Angry Birds

Angry Birds is a physics or puzzle game. It is available on platforms such as iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Symbian. One of the reasons the game is so successful is its simplicity and comical style.  A great number of emotions such as enjoyment, frustration, love and anger, that the user receives playing the game and creative graphics also contribute to the success of the game. The game incorporates all of the components that can make one game successful:

-competition with yourself, which helps you to improve your score;
-feedback gives information about the player's progress within the game. It is a text, audio, video and graphic based which gives information about the player’s performance within the game. The feedback dictates emotional state of the player.
-goal is to kill pigs destroying their fortresses;
-the challenge of each level is presented with different obstacles (fortresses) which make it hard to destroy pig's fortresses;
-rules how to destroy pig's fortresses are presented with the full motion video;
-threat is not to kill the pigs which will give you zero points;
-reward is the amount of points which are given to the player after the pigs are killed;
-levels of the game give you the opportunity to continue the game with more challenging obstacles;

The interaction model is omnipresence where the player controls all of the angry birds in the game. The world is viewed in two dimensional perspective which can also be called a scrolling view because the playable and non-playable characters slides horizontally and vertically across the display. The single player mode of the game allows the player to play against or compete with the artificial intelligence of NPs or objects. Full motion video is presented as animation which introduces to the player the rules how to destroy the pigs' fortresses.

The terrain of the game world includes ground, grass and small bushes. Architecture includes the pigs' fortresses. An example of objects is the weapon the angry birds (protagonists) can use to kill the pigs which are antagonists in the game.

The game creates funny and exciting emotional state of the player.
Gamers between 18-24 years old are more likely to buy an Angry Birds game. The design of the game is bright and colourful which highly appeals to children without being so childish that adults feel embarrassed to play the game. Angry Birds is easy to play which also contributes to its popularity between a wide age-range. Game controls and menu symbols are intuitive and are suitable even for non-game players. It offers free and paid versions which allow players to become addicted to the game.
Angry Birds incorporates features such as comic and creative birds, a great number of levels, beautifully detailed backgrounds, regular free updates, realistic physics and pre-rendered short animations.
The game was ported from Apple's iOS to platforms such as Android, Windows Phone, Symbian, desktop computer and gaming consoles.
